Introduction to Ethylparaben

Ethylparaben is white crystalline powder and it also can be called Nipagin A .Ethylparaben is with a slightly bitter and astringent taste. And it's easily soluble in alcohol, ether, and acetone, but it doesn't soluble in water.Nipagin A is the ethyl ester of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. Its formula is HO-C6H4-CO-O-CH2CH3. It is a member of the class of compounds known as parabens.
Ethylparaben is used as an antifungal preservative. It is mainly used as antiseptics in cosmetics, food and medicine. It is also can be used as feed preservatives and antiseptic for bacteria. Sodium ethyl para-hydroxybenzoate, the sodium salt of ethylparaben, has the same uses and is given the E number E215.
